Gifford Booth delivers a TEDx Talk

CEO Gifford Booth takes us on a journey at the 2013 TEDxTeachersCollege at Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. In his talk, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Direct Your Attention,”  he joyfully confronts stagefright and the power of being present both personally and in the professional world.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. The 2013 TEDxTeachersCollege focused on mindfulness in many different fields, showcasing the profound connection and power we all possess as humans regardless of the work we do. Mindfulness matters in all fields. Mindfulness makes a difference in the world.

    Hi Gifford!
I just watched your talk. I admit, I never understood exactly what you did, or how you did it. But after watching your talk I totally get it! I thought actively about how what you talked about applies to something I have been doing for 13 years – teaching. When it goes well I am present, able to gage the student’s reactions to what I am talking about. When it doesn’t, I race though material , not connecting with the audience, until I sense their boredom or alienation.

Thank you for helping me to clearly identify what’s going on in each case! I’m not surprised you have been so successful.
    Best,
    Anne Finkelstein
