How a one-day workshop helped emerging leaders get a recommendation funded
The moment an emerging leader presents to senior executives can carry real weight. It’s a chance to make a case for an idea, show how they think, and influence what happens next. But a good recommendation can lose its force when the message is hard to follow or the presenter gets buried in the details.
That was the challenge facing a global household and consumer products company. Its emerging leaders had the opportunity to present solutions to senior executives, but too many struggled to make their recommendations land.
For the first time in the client’s workshop history, senior executives adopted and funded one of the team’s recommendations.
TAI worked with the client to design a one-day Communicate with Power and Presence workshop for 22 participants. Working in small teams, participants were guided by dedicated TAI coaches and practiced presenting their ideas, with real-time feedback on how they structured their message and engaged the room.
The work focused on what happens in the room: getting to the point, shaping a recommendation into a clear story, and speaking in a way that helps senior leaders understand why an idea matters.
The result
One team’s recommendation was adopted and funded by senior executives, a first in the client’s workshop history. TAI has been invited back annually to deliver the workshop, solidifying an ongoing partnership with the client.
“Completely eye-opening, impactful.”

An emerging leader
A recommendation only has a chance to make a difference when people can understand it and see why it deserves support. For these emerging leaders, the workshop gave them a chance to practise that skill in the setting where it mattered.
